Wishing you and yours a safe 4th of July!  Remember to always protect your hearing when around very loud sounds by wearing ear plugs.  If an accident should occur where a firecracker goes off very close to your ear, please do not hesitate to be seen by an audiologist as soon as possible.  You may experience hearing loss after a traumatic event, so it is important to measure your hearing.  If a significant change has occurred, you will be referred to a physician to get you on a steroid treatment immediately.  You can also go directly to an emergency room if you do not have immediate access to an audiologist.  The important thing is to seek help as soon as possible.  Waiting can reduce the likelihood of a recovery.

While there is no guarantee a recovery will occur, it is always best to give yourself the best chance you can have.
