Having been in situations like this, I knew that I could not offer such an experience. Whenever I had a Doctor spend enough time to listen to my concerns and explain everything I needed to know clearly, I loved the visit so much more. The profession of Audiology really spoke to me as I considered many career options. In my opinion, it is the perfect blend of two things that I love: Helping people and technology. The look of surprise and wonderment as someone is hearing sounds that they haven’t heard for many years, never ceases to amaze me. It is truly a heartwarming experience. Technology on the other hand can be both a blessing and a curse.
Thankfully the digital hearing aids that are available today have been refined to the point that they are working in the background and automate many of the tasks that a user once had to perform manually. With my continued guidance and support, I will make our journey together as pleasant as possible.
Even if you feel you do not need a hearing test or hearing aids, I offer other services that promote healthy hearing. These include assistive listening devices, custom swim plugs as well as plugs for surfers, custom hearing protection if your day includes a high amount of noise exposure, as well as musician’s hearing protection which lowers the overall volume without affecting fidelity. These are also great if you are an avid concert goer or go to very loud venues where you still need to hear.
